The new anime Patlabor EZY has released its first trailer, revealing details about the theme songs and the project's structure. The opening theme, "Reimei Compass," will be performed by Mori Calliope, while the ending theme, "Baton," will be performed by Mariko Nagai.
In addition, the project has eight episodes, shown in Japanese cinemas as three films. The first premieres on May 15th, followed by another in August and the last in March 2027, with partially independent stories.
Future with AI and new challenges at Patlabor EZY
The story of Patlabor EZY takes place in the 2030s, showing a Japan impacted by automation and artificial intelligence. The traditional Labor mecha now coexist with autonomous robots, but crimes involving these machines still require human intervention. Even in this scenario, the SV-2 unit remains active, using updated versions of the classic Ingram. The AV-98Plus model brings mechanical improvements and augmented reality features to assist pilots during operations.
Production brings together classic names
The anime will be directed by Yutaka Izubuchi at JC Staff studio, with a script by Kazunori Itō. The original work is based on the concept of the HEADGEAR group, responsible for consolidating the franchise since the 1980s.

The soundtrack is composed by Kenji Kawai, while Masami Yuuki returns to design the characters. The production maintains a strong connection to the series' legacy, which blends police action with science fiction.
Finally, it's worth remembering that the film Patlabor WXIII will also return to Japanese cinemas in 4K format starting in April. Keep following AnimeNews anime
