The official website for the film Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise has revealed a new trailer for the animated film depicting the summer of 1944 on the island of Palau.
The release is scheduled for December 5, 2025, with animation by Shin-Ei Animation × Fugaku .
Peleliu Synopsis: Rakuen no Guernica
The story takes place during the summer of 1944, during the Battle of Peleliu , an island in Palau, a paradise of coral reefs. The battle, which occurred during World War II between the US and Japan, lasted for months and is still known today as the "bitterest battle in the entire history of the Marines".
The main character is Tamaru , a soldier who wants to become a manga creator, and we follow his life during the battle.
The manga is the basis for the anime, where author Kazuyoshi Takeda is participating as a co-screenwriter along with Junji Nishimura . Goro Kuji (Chained Soldier) is also directing the project.
