SEGA announced today that Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle anime series Online 2, will debut on TV in October 2019 and will have 25 episodes. The anime will recompile the story of “Episodes 1 – 3” of the game and will also include an original story.

With animation by studio Gonzo, the direction is by Masaki Tachibana (Princess Principal, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0), the story is by Hiroshi Ohnogi (GeGeGe no Kitarō, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), the design of characters is by Shinpei Koikawa (Aquarion Logos, High School DxD Hero) and sound direction is by Eriko Kimura (Tiger & Bunny, Lu over the wall, Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt). The 3D CG for the anime series was delivered to Felix Film.
The game previously inspired an anime titled Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation. The anime presents a completely original story. The 12-episode series premiered in January 2016, and Sentai Filmworks and Crunchyroll streamed the series in Japan.
Most recently, the official Puso Ni Comi Game: Phantasy Star Online 2 web comic manga inspired a series of web anime shorts that began streaming weekly on the Phantasy Star YouTube and Niconico channels on January 8.
Sega released the free-to-play role-playing game Phantasy Star Online 2 for Windows PC in Japan in 2012, followed by a PlayStation Vita release in 2013, and an Android and iOS release in April and May 2014, respectively. The game debuted on PlayStation 4 in April 2016. The game's most recent episode, “Episode 6,” was released on April 24.
A cloud version of the game for Nintendo Switch titled Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud was released in April 2018, and then released for PC on December 19.
Microsoft announced at E3 in June that it will release the game on Xbox One in North America in spring 2020.
