The Pokémon Company has revealed a new animated short film in celebration of Earth Day, which takes place on April 22, 2025. Titled Pokémon Ecology Diary (working title), the special will feature beloved Pokémon such as Pikachu, Chimchar, Tepig , and Eeveein a story focused on environmental preservation.
The news was announced via the brand's official Weibo account. In the statement, the team commented:
"April 22, 2025 is Earth Day. While Pokémon help us discover the beauty of the world, are trainers also curious about the ecology of the Pokémon universe? The special short film Pokémon Ecology Diary will be released tomorrow at noon on the franchise's official channels."
The premiere is scheduled for 12 PM (Beijing time), which corresponds to 1 AM Brasília time. However, the animation for the project was handled by the renowned studio CoMix Wave Films, the same studio responsible for Makoto Shinkai, such as Your Name and Suzume.
This new special follows the recent release of Dragonite and the Mail Carrier, which aired in February during Pokémon Day. However, it doesn't stop there: fans can still look forward to the second season of Concierge in the second half of the year and Pokémon Horizons: The Search for Laqua Part 2, which premieres in the US on April 25th.
