Warner Bros. surprised everyone with the first trailer for the live-action Pokémon: Detective Pikachu film, which will be based on the story of the game that was released for Nintendo 3DS.
Instead of the Ash that we know as the protagonist of the anime , we have the story focused on Rob Letterman ( Goosebumps ), the father of Justice Smith who was kidnapped and will have to join forces with Pikachu to resolve the entire plot. The cast also features Kathryn Newton ( Big Little Lies ), who plays a journalist who helps them on their mission. The premiere is scheduled for May 9, 2019 .
The film is based on the game Detective Pikachu, a game in the saga that was released on the Nintendo 3DS. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu, Kathryn Newton as Lucy, Justice Smith as Tim Goodman, Ken Watanabe as Detective Yoshida, as well as Bill Nighy in an undisclosed role.
