On its official website, it was revealed that the title of the film, which opens October 29th, will be Death Note Light up The New World . In addition to the name, a poster was released featuring the film's three central characters and a text that reads "A decade after that incident... Six new Death Notes have been scattered."
(Left) Masaki Suda will play Yugi Shion , a cyber terrorist who reveres Kira.
(Center) Masahiro Higashide will play Tsukuru Mishima , an investigator in the Death Notes case.
(Right) Sousuke Ikematsu will play L's famous detective successor, Ryuzaki .
The film revolves around the rule that only six Death Notes can exist simultaneously in the human world. This rule from the manga had never been used in any previous adaptation. The central characters are Light and L's successors and the investigator. The film is set in 2016, in a highly technological society plagued by cyberterrorism.
Shinsuke Sato, from the live-action Gantz, is the director and it will be distributed by Warner Brothers.
