It was revealed on its official website that the title of the film, which premieres on October 29th, will be Death Note Light Up The New World . In addition to the name, a poster featuring the three central characters was released, along with text that reads, "A decade after this incident... Six new Death Notes have been scattered."

(Center) Masahiro Higashide will play Tsukuru Mishima , an investigator in the Death Notes case.
(Right) Sousuke Ikematsu will play L's famous successor detective, Ryuzaki .
The film revolves around the rule that only six Death Notes can exist simultaneously in the human world. This rule from the manga had not been used in any previous adaptation. The central characters are the successors of Light and L, and the investigator. The film takes place in 2016, in a highly technological society plagued by cyberterrorism.
Shinsuke Sato, director of the live-action Gantz, is the director and it will be distributed by Warner Brothers.
