Toho Animation began streaming a new promotional video for the anime , Promare, from Studio Trigger and XFlag this Friday (31). The video features the ending theme “Kori wo Tojikomete” (Imprison in Ice).

The film premiered in Japan on May 24th in 200 theaters, and debuted at #8 in its opening weekend. Currently, viewers can receive a serial code card that links to a brand-new 10-minute anime, "Galohen" (Galo Chapter). The first bonus card will be available until June 6th. A second bonus card with a serial code linked to a similar video of the prequel, "Lio-hen" (Lio Chapter), will begin being distributed to viewers on June 7th.
In the film's story, 30 years ago, a cataclysmic event destroyed half the world in a fire and caused a mutation that created a new race of people called the Burnish. Burnish are capable of creating and controlling fire. The film centers on the members of the Burning Rescue fire squad, who put out the fires caused by Burnish. The newcomer to Burning Rescue is Galo, a hot-headed man who uses "Matoi-Tech," named after the "matoi" flags used by Edo-period firefighting units. Galo's encounter with Lio, leader of a Burnish terrorist group called Mad Burnish, sets the story in motion.
Director Hiroyuki Imaishi and screenwriter Kazuki Nakashima have teamed up again for the new project at Trigger. Trigger and Nakashima are credited for the original work. Shigeto Koyama was responsible for the character and mechanical designs, and Sushio (Kill la Kill) was involved as an animator. Tomotaka Kubo (Mary and the Witch's Flower) was the art director, and Saishi Ichiko was responsible for the logo design. Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill) composed the music. SANZIGEN Animation Studio handled the 3DCG animation. XFlag is credited with production, and TOHO is distributing the film.
