Game developer 5pb. (Mages) has released the second promotional video for Corpse Party: Tortured Souls -Bōgyaku Sareta Tamashii no Jukyō-, an OVA inspired by the Corpse Party horror game trilogy for PSP. The video premiered at Anime Contents Expo in March.
The anime will have 4 episodes, arriving on July 24th in 2 DVD volumes or 1 Blu-ray. The anime will also be screened in Osaka on July 15th, along with Team GrisGris, directors Makoto Kedōin and Akira Iwanaga, MAGES producer Yasuhiko Nomura, and voice actress Yumi Hara (Satsuki Mizuhara). Asami Imai contributed to the opening theme “Hoshikuzu no Ring” (Stardust Ring).
The game had inspired another OVA called Corpse Party: Missing Footage, which came with this year's limited edition of Corpse Party -The Anthology- Sachiko no Renai Yūgi ♥ Hysteric Birthday 2U. Both OVAs feature the same cast: Kira Iwanaga is the general director, Seiki Tanaka is the chief animation director and character designer, and Shoichi Sato is in charge of the scripts.
The original game, produced by Team GrisGris, tells the story of a group of students trapped in a school, haunted by a missing child. The new anime begins with Naomi and Seiko waking up in the abandoned school, with no idea where they are or what happened to their classmates. For some reason, they are trapped in this school, with no way to escape.
XSEED Games released the original version of the game for PSP in North America and Europe.
The first promotional video was released in December:
