Kazuhisa Sakaguchi 's Rakudai Ninja Rantaro franchise will get a new film based on the 2013 novel of the same name. The new film will be titled Rakudai Ninja Rantaro: Dokutake Ninja-tai Saikyo no Gunshi and is scheduled to premiere in theaters in Japan in December 2024.

Along with a teaser image on Twitter featuring the protagonist Rantaro and his teacher, Hansuke Doi. The 2013 novel focuses on Rantaro's teacher, Hansuke Doi, who becomes a professor at the Ninjutsu Academy after losing a battle against Sonnamon and Zatto Konnamon.
The anime's official Twitter account and website also revealed the film's production staff and returning voice cast. Masaya Fujimori (Kemono Jihen, Revenger) is directing the new film, returning from his previous work on the 2011 film in the franchise, *Gekijo-ban Anime Nintama Rantaro Ninjutsu Gakuen Zenin Shutsudo! no Dan*. Sakaguchi, the writer of the 2013 novel on which the film is based, is writing the film's scripts. Ajia-do Animation Works is in charge of the film's animation production, which is also working on the long-running anime adaptation of the original manga, * Nintama Rantaro *.
Returning voice cast members from the anime series include:
- Minami Takayama as Rantaro
- Mayumi Tanaka as Kirimaru
- Teiyuu Ichiryuusai as Shinbei Fukutomi
- Toshihiko Seki as Hansuke Doi
The original Rakudai Ninja Rantaro manga series was created by Soubee Amako and published by The Asahi Shimbun Company in 1986. Although serialized in the children's magazine Asahi Shogakusei Shinbun until 2019, it gained a total of 65 tankoubon volumes.
Synopsis:
The story follows young ninja apprentice Rantaro, who trains at an elite ninjutsu academy in historical Japan. He is accompanied by several elementary school students, who are collectively known as "Nintama" (a combination of the Japanese words for "ninja" and "egg").
The manga ultimately inspired a television anime series that has been airing since April 10, 1993. Over 2,000 episodes have been released in total, and the series is currently the longest-running program on the NHK channel. However, in addition to a 2011 anime film, the series also inspired a 1996 anime film and several video games.
Furthermore, director Takashi Miike directed a live-action film adaptation of the series under the title Ninja Kids!!!.
