According to the data collected, Generation Z stands out as the biggest anime enthusiast, even surpassing Millennials. An impressive 42% of the younger respondents stated that they watch anime weekly, compared to 25% of Millennials. Meanwhile, Generation X and Baby Boomers showed a more modest participation, with only 12% and 3% respectively, indicating a clear preference among younger generations.
This shift in consumption patterns can be largely attributed to the proliferation of social media and the abundance of streaming services. Platforms like Netflix , Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Crunchyroll , Max, Tube, VRV, and HIDIVE have become home to a vast selection of anime, providing easy and convenient access for viewers, especially Generation Z, which is known for its affinity with technology and digital media.
Furthermore, the research reveals a diverse landscape among anime fans. Ethnic groups such as African Americans and Asian Americans have demonstrated significant interest in these productions, particularly within Generation Z. Additionally, anime attracts a considerable LGBTQIAP+ community, standing out as an inclusive and diverse space within the entertainment universe.
Finally, these insights offer a perspective on the growing influence and relevance of anime.
