The study, conducted with 4,000 individuals in the United States, all over the age of 18, offers intriguing insight into how different age groups consume these Japanese animations.

According to the data collected, Generation Z emerges as the biggest anime enthusiasts, surpassing even Millennials. A staggering 42% of younger respondents said they watch anime weekly, compared to 25% of Millennials. Meanwhile, Generation X and Boomers showed more modest participation, with only 12% and 3% respectively, indicating a clear preference among younger generations.
This shift in consumption patterns can be largely attributed to the proliferation of social media and the abundance of streaming services. Platforms like Netflix , Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Crunchyroll , Max, Tube, VRV, and HIDIVE have become home to a vast selection of anime, providing easy and convenient access for viewers, especially Generation Z, which is known for its affinity for technology and digital media.
Furthermore, the survey reveals a diverse landscape among anime fans. Ethnic groups such as African Americans and Asian Americans have shown significant interest in these productions, particularly within Generation Z. Furthermore, anime attracts a sizable LGBTQIAP+ community, highlighting it as an inclusive and diverse space within the entertainment universe.
