Eiichir Hasumi is directing the film, while Makoto Fukami is writing the script. Additionally, the additional staff announced includes Rei Kondo, who will be responsible for the film's music, and CG director Tomohiro Shimizu.

Resident Evil: Death Island is the sequel to the film Resident Evil: Vendetta, which was released in theaters in the United States and Canada in June 2017. The film premiered in Japanese theaters in May 2017, and is then the third CG-animated film in the franchise, following 2008's Resident Evil: Degeneration and 2012's Resident Evil: Damnation.

The film, therefore, has a completely original story and features characters from several games in the series. CAPCOM producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi oversaw the project.

Netflix's Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness series premiered exclusively on the platform worldwide in July 2021 and ran for four episodes.

Synopsis

DSO Agent Leon S. Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers when a mysterious woman foils his pursuit. Meanwhile, BSAA agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be identified. The only thing the victims have in common is that they all recently visited Alcatraz Island. Following this lead, Chris and his team head to the island, where a new horror awaits them.
