Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary

Those who like Saint Seiya have been suffering lately with the mess the series has become: Lost Canvas, the standalone Heaven Chapter, and of course, the hated by many and loved by some Saint Seiya: Omega. In my humble opinion, the 12 houses will remain in my memory for a long time; it marked the childhood of everyone my age.

In 2014, we were introduced to the film *Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary*, which aimed to recapture the lost nostalgia of the 90s, this time completely remade using CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery). Taking this opportunity, I have issues with some Japanese productions (almost Bollywood), and as a fan, I can say that you don't need an open mind to accept the direction this film took.
legend-1

Retelling the first phase of the classic manga from the famous Sanctuary saga, the impact is gigantic, especially for the most hardcore fans of the Saint Seiya franchise. After watching Legend of Sanctuary, the difficulty of adapting 74 episodes into a film of just over an hour is presented in a very different way, even while maintaining the nostalgia of the era. The film has a simple story, but what it lacks is the "EMOTION" and the "DRAMA" from the main characters, which drives the entire story throughout the 12 houses.

On the other hand, something that will please is the visual emphasis, scenery, armor, and fights, complete with slow-motion effects. A highlight of the film is the dubbing work by the entire "Dubrasil" team, who delivered an impeccable performance.
legend-2

The Gold Saints underwent changes – some of them cool, like Leo, Mu, and Aldebaran, and others completely nonsensical, such as Death Mask (looking like Scar from Disney's The Lion King). It's a short film, with no time to develop any of the characters we learned to love in the past.

Fans of the classic series, Legend of Sanctuary will unfortunately fall into the Underworld (sekishiki meikai ha), being yet another film that failed to become a legend.
