Koei Tecmo Games revealed more details about Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Land of Creation during the Taipei Game Show 2025 , held between January 23 and 26, in Taiwan. The RPG , which will be released on March 21, 2025 for multiple platforms, presented a demo version that highlighted its expansive gameplay, innovative combat mechanics and an improved alchemy system.

Limitless exploration and resource management in Atelier on Yumia

The biggest new feature in Atelier Yumia is the freedom of exploration. Unlike its predecessor, Atelier Ryza 3 , the new game features a completely open map, without the traditional narrow corridors. This allows players to move in any direction, climb walls, and even jump from great heights. However, this feature requires planning: the energy consumed during jumps must be managed carefully, as depleting it can result in damage to the character.

Another strategic element is areas with high concentrations of Mana. In these locations, energy depletes more quickly, requiring intelligent use of available resources. With these additions, exploration gains an extra level of depth and planning.

Dynamic combat and range switching

Battles unfold seamlessly, maintaining the fluid pace of exploration. Furthermore, the real-time combat system introduces two distinct attack modes:

  • In-Range: Focused on direct hits and close combat.
  • Out-Range: Allows for strategic long-range attacks.

Switching between these modes is essential to optimize character abilities. Victor, for example, accumulates a special resource called Piles when fighting in In-Range mode and can use it in Out-Range for consecutive attacks without waiting for a cooldown.

The gameplay encourages constant movement, blocking, and dodging, which speeds up skill recharge times. Despite its complexity, the system is accessible even to players who prefer a more strategic pace and less reliance on quick reflexes.

Alchemy and advanced customization of Atelier Yumia

The alchemy mechanics, a central element of the Atelier , feature an innovative system. Items are synthesized through Atlas Cores , special cores where materials are inserted. The process involves three steps:

  1. Choosing a recipe.
  2. Activation of an Atlas Core with specific materials.
  3. Filling Atlas Slots , creating areas of resonance that increase the attributes of the final item.

The larger the resonance area, the more powerful the item produced. The system, intuitive at first, becomes more complex as the player progresses, offering a high level of customization.

Base construction for customization

Another aspect explored in the demo was base building. Players can erect buildings, decorate the space, and create a haven for Yumia and her allies. The test version only allowed players to experiment with basic elements, but the final version will feature detailed customization options, including walls, roofs, and various furniture.

Expectations for the launch

The demo version of Atelier Yumia demonstrated a promising RPG, with a more immersive open world, dynamic combat, and a strategic alchemy system. The game still needs to reveal more about its narrative and characters, but it already represents a significant evolution within the series.

Scheduled for release on March 21, 2025, Atelier Yumia will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via Steam.
