Studio Onibi announced this week the action RPG Tomo: Endless Blue, an open-world title with anime-inspired visuals. Scheduled for release on PC via Steam in late 2026, the game features an endless ocean with unique islands and creatures called Tomo, who accompany the player in battles and daily tasks.

Formed by veterans who worked on hits like Baldur's Gate III, Fall Guys, League of Legends, Fortnite, and World of Warcraft, the studio promises a dynamic universe where each island functions as a small world, with its own cultures, hidden secrets, and varied challenges.

Procedurally generated islands and fragmented culture
In Tomo: Endless Blue, players embark on a journey through an archipelago representing the fragments of vanished civilizations. Therefore, the developers combine handcrafted content with procedural generation algorithms, ensuring geographical and narrative variety.
The exploration takes place in a vast ocean that connects these isolated worlds. On each island, the player encounters unique characters, their own traditions, and different ways of interacting with the environment. This approach allows for a distinct experience in every playthrough.
The setting reinforces the sense of constant discovery. Instead of following a linear plot, players piece together the story little by little, as they unravel the mysteries of each place visited.
Companions Tome and Strategic Combat
The Tomo are creatures with special abilities that accompany the player throughout the adventure. They participate in battles, help craft equipment, cook, farm, and even fish. With their own distinct personalities, the Tomo are more than just allies: they are companions on the journey that influence how the player interacts with the world.
The combat uses an active system, alternating between the main character and the Tomes. Terrain physics plays an important role: the player can, for example, spread water in an area to cool down a fire enemy and then apply an electric attack to cause more damage.
This dynamism expands the variety of possible strategies. The intelligent use of the environment becomes a key element in battles, both against common adversaries and in confrontations with the so-called "Tome Champions".

Building with blocks and realistic physics
One of the main distinguishing features of Tomo: Endless Blue is its block-based building system that obeys real-world physics. This allows for the creation of customized vehicles, such as boats, cranes, and even aircraft. Furthermore, the possibilities are virtually limitless, depending only on the player's creativity.
Building isn't just decorative: it's an essential tool for exploring the islands, accessing remote locations, or solving environmental challenges. Players create contraptions as part of the game's routine, in sync with the rhythm of the adventure.
This system resembles the voxel style popularized by games like Minecraft, but with a higher degree of sophistication, offering complete control over each component of the structure.
Flexible multiplayer mode and shared journey
Players will be able to explore Tomo: Endless Blue alone or in multiplayer mode. Additionally, it will be possible to connect via local network or online servers. The number of participants will not have a fixed limit—it will depend only on the capacity of the device or server used.
However, despite the focus on individual experience, the game encourages shared journeys. Players can build together, explore different islands simultaneously, or simply live together in villages alongside the Tomo. This flexibility allows for diverse play styles, from cooperative to solo.
The game also focuses on immersive living, with everyday activities like farming, cooking, and fishing reinforcing the feeling of living in that world. All of this is presented with a visual aesthetic inspired by anime, featuring vibrant colors and expressive characters.

Expectations and next steps
Still in its early stages of promotion, Tomo: Endless Blue has already attracted attention for combining popular elements in contemporary games: open world, creative building, procedural generation, and anime aesthetics. Thus, the combination promises to appeal to fans of immersive RPGs and titles focused on freedom of exploration.
Onibi has announced that new details will be revealed throughout 2025, including gameplay videos, character introductions, and more information about the Tomo. Until then, the game can already be added to your wishlist on the Steam platform.
With a planned release for the end of 2026, Tomo: Endless Blue arrives as a promising bet among independent games that combine creativity, fragmented narrative, and emotional engagement with magical creatures.
