Rurouni Kenshin films has released a new teaser for the second film. The video features images of actor Tatsuya Fujiwara as Makoto Shishio. In 2013, two sequels, a trilogy, were confirmed.

The two new films will cover the Kyoto arc from Nobuhiro Watsuki's original historical action manga.

Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Taika-hen (Kyoto Inferno) will hit theaters in Japan on August 1, and Rurouni Kenshin: Densetsu no Saigo-hen (The Legend Ends) is slated for release on September 13. Principal photography for both films wrapped on December 27 after six months of filming.
