Synopsis

The story follows the ruthless swordsman Kenshin Himura , once known as one of the best swordsmen in the country, who is weary of killing. However, his past returns to haunt him, and Kenshin will be forced to wield his sword once more against old and new enemies surrounding him.

The series is directed by Hideyo Yamamoto at the animation studio Liden Films (Tokyo Revengers, Yofukashi no Uta), with composition by Hideyuki Kurata, character design by Terumi Nishii, and music by Yu Takami.

Watsuki and his wife, Kaoru Kurosaki, then launched the manga Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc in Shueisha's Jump SQ magazine in September 2017. However, the manga went on hiatus in December 2017 after Watsuki was accused of possessing child pornography. Publication resumed in June of 2018.

Finally, the new Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) therefore aims to re-adapt the entire manga.
