Ryo Kono, the artist behind Mob Psycho 100, has passed away

Today, the anime industry mourns the loss of a talented artist. Ryo Kono was admired for her art direction and background work, and is recognized for series such as Mob Psycho 100 .

Kono's nephew, Akira, shared the news:

On October 23rd, my aunt Ryo Kono passed away suddenly due to a possible gastrointestinal hemorrhage. I cannot hide my shock at this sudden loss. Every project my aunt worked on was a source of pride for our family. I want to express my sincere gratitude [to Ryo Kono] for the kindness she showed me in life.

Ryo Kono's Legacy in the Anime Industry

For those unfamiliar with Ryo Kono, her career is impressive. She worked on notable titles such as Ninja Scroll , Psycho-Pass , and Tokyo Ghoul , but it was on Mob 100 that she truly shone as an art director. Under Studio Bones, her vision transformed the anime into a visual masterpiece, for which fans are eternally grateful.

In addition to Mob Psycho 100 , Kono also participated in projects such as Devilman Crybaby , Carole & Tuesday , Kaiba , Space Dandy , and Super Crooks . Working with renowned studios like Science Saru and Bones, Kono left an exemplary legacy that continues to inspire artists and animators.
