For some time now, there have been rumors circulating that the Saint Seiya Omega anime would not be getting a third season — and now that news has been confirmed.

Saint Seiya Omega

The Japanese news site Oricon officially announced that the anime Saint Seiya: Omega will not return with a third season, concluding with a total of 97 episodes scheduled for March 30th. In its place, the anime Notari Matsutaro, also produced by Toei Animation.

With critical acclaim, the Japanese author Masami Kurumada wrote and illustrated the work. The series premiered in Japan on April 1, 2012, directed by Morio Hatano (in his directorial debut) and illustrated by Yoshihiko Umakoshi (known for his work in the same role on Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie and Casshern Sins).

Toei describes the work as an original anime story, as it is not an adaptation of plots previously published in manga. Ultimately, Saint Seiya Ω is not part of the manga, but its story is influenced by events and elements from the original work.
