Rumors have been circulating for some time that the anime Saint Seiya Omega would not get a third season — and now that news has been confirmed.
The Japanese news website Oricon officially announced that the anime Saint Seiya: Omega will not return with a third season , closing with a total of 97 episodes that is scheduled for March 30th. In its place will come the anime called Notari Matsutaro , also produced by Toei Animation .
With critical acclaim for the series, Japanese author Masami Kurumada wrote and illustrated the work. The series premiered in Japan on April 1, 2012, under the direction of Morio Hatano (in his debut as a series director) and with illustrations by Yoshihiko Umakoshi (known for acting in the same role in Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie and Casshern Sins ).
Toei describes the work as an anime original story, as it is not an adaptation of previously published manga plots. Finally, Saint Seiya Ω is not part of the manga, but its story is influenced by events and elements from the original work.
