On Monday (30), the official account of Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine announced that the Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc), written by Nobuhiro Watsuki and his wife Kaoru Kurosaki, has been suspended indefinitely due to the author's health problems. The interruption began in the May issue of this year, when it was reported that the manga would not have a new chapter in June. Since then, the July, August and September issues have also not featured the publication.

Watsuki and Kurosaki launched Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc) in September 2017, but the title had already faced a suspension in December of the same year when Watsuki was accused of possessing inappropriate material. After this incident, the manga returned in June 2018, generating controversy among fans, some of whom have not yet forgiven the author.

The Samurai X franchise is a pop culture icon, having sold over 72 million copies worldwide since 1994. The series follows the journey of Kenshin Himura , a former assassin from the Meiji era , in his quest for redemption and a new purpose in life.

In addition to the manga, Rurouni Kenshin has been adapted into anime, live-action films, and even musicals. Finally, the franchise's newest anime, released in July 2023, is still airing and will have new episodes starting in October 2024.
