Aniplex released a new trailer for the film Sword Art Online: Progressive – Hoshi Naki Yoru no Aria . The video highlights the appearance of the Game Master and the game's declaration of death from Asuna's point of view.

Ayako Kawano (unit director on Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic ) will direct the film at A-1 Pictures . Kento Toya ( Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld , The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments ) will design the character. Yasuyuki Kai is the action director while Yuki Kajiura returns to compose the soundtrack.
Furthermore, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka returns as Kirito and Haruka Tomatsu as Asuna in the dubbing cast.
Lastly, the anime is based on the SAO: Progressive light novel by Reki Kawahara . The novel launched in 2012 as a revised version retelling events that happened in Sword Art Online. The story describes Kirito's journey through Aincrad's floating castle from the beginning, floor by floor.
