The highly anticipated film Scarlet, the new production from director Mamoru Hosoda and Studio Chizu, has just received a new promotional video, a new visual, and five more confirmed names in the cast.
New staff include: Kazuki Namioka, Koki Uchiyama, Shiro Saito, Reina Ueda, and Atsumi Tanezaki.
The Japanese theatrical release is scheduled for November 21 , 2025, including IMAX screenings. On the other hand, the North American release has been postponed to early 2026 , although the film is still in contention for awards this year. Thus, Scarlet continues to garner attention at festivals such as Venice, TIFF, NYFF, and Animation Is Film, reinforcing the film's international appeal.
The story features Scarlet, a warrior princess seeking revenge, who ends up wounded and transported to a mysterious "Other World." There, she meets Hijiri, a young man from our time who ultimately makes her rethink the cycle of hatred. Thus, Mamoru Hosoda promises a unique aesthetic, blending romance, action, and elements inspired by a global classic.
