The Scott Pilgrim anime was produced by Science SARU , which is responsible for the animation of Star Wars: Visions , Devilman Crybaby and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!. The creator of the comic himself, Bryan Lee O'Malley , took care of the animation script, in addition to being the executive producer alongside BenDavid Grabinski .
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World originally began as a comic book in 2004 and was later adapted into a live-action film in 2010. The film's cast also provided voice roles for the characters in the animated film. Michael Cera is Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is Ramona Flowers, Satya Bhabha is Mathew Pattel, Chris Evans is Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick is Stacey Pilgrim, and Brie Larson is Envy Adam.
Synopsis:
Scott, a young, unemployed, and immature musician, falls in love with the mysterious Ramona Flowers. However, to win her heart, Scott must face and defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends, who are determined to eliminate him to keep the "key" to her heart. Each ex-boyfriend is presented as a video game-style challenge, with physical and mental struggles that reflect the protagonist's past experiences. Therefore, he must confront his past mistakes and navigate the ups and downs of his new relationship.
