The second season of the Vinland Saga anime will be animated by MAPPA ( Jujutsu Kaisen ) with the same staff as the first season, produced by Wit Studio . According to reports, the new season of Vinland Saga was announced in July 2021.
Therefore, this is not the first time that MAPPA studio has acquired anime from other studios, as was the case with the 3 parts of the 4th and final season of Attack on Titan.
Synopsis
As a child, Thorfinn sat at the feet of the great Leif Ericson and thrilled to hear wild tales of a distant land to the west. But his youthful fantasies were shattered by an unexpected attack from the mercenary Viking Askeladd. Raised by the Vikings responsible for his father's murder, Thorfinn became a fearsome warrior bent on killing their leader, Askeladd, to exact his revenge. Thus, through overcoming obstacles, Thorfinn continues to dream of living in a fertile land to the west, a land without war or slavery… the land Leif called Vinland.
The first season of the anime premiered in July 2019 and was streamed on Amazon Prime Video . However, the new season does not yet have a release date.
Shuuhei Yabuta ( director of Inuyashiki, 3D director on Attack on Titan ) directed the anime at Wit Studio ( Great Pretender ). Hiroshi Seko ( Banana Fish ) supervised the series scripts.
Finally, Yukimura launched Vinland Saga in Kodansha in 2005, but Kodansha moved the series to Afternoon Magazine later that year. Yukimura began drawing the manga's fourth and final arc in November 2019. The series has over 5.5 million copies in circulation.
