The official website for Gen'ei o Kakeru Taiyō or The Sun Penetrates the Illusions has released the second promotional video. The video features the opening theme song sung by LiSA (Angel Beats!, Fate/Zero, Sword Art Online).

The story takes place in a world ruled by cards, dating back to ancient times. The Diabolos Tarot is a demon that feeds on the souls of the sinless, causing great misfortune. The Elemental Tarot is the source of natural power to combat the Diabolos Tarot. Girls are chosen from 22 clans to wield the Elemental Tarot cards in battle, unbeknownst to other humans, to maintain the balance of the entire world.

Mai Kadowak as Akari Taiyo, a 12-year-old girl who is as cheerful and bright as the sun. She becomes the Sun card holder after losing her mother, who was a fortune teller.

Keizou Kusakawa is directing and Michiko Itou is in charge of the scripts. Shinpei Tomooka is adapting Gomoku Akatsuki's original character designs for animation. Tatsuya Katou is providing the music with audio director Yoshikazu Iwanami. The cast includes Mai Kadowaki as Akari Taiyo, Eri Kitamura as Seira Hoshikawa, Yuiko Tatsumi as Ginka Shirokane, and Sora Tokui as Luna Tsukuyomi. The 6th Anison Grand Prize winner. Natsumi Okamoto will sing the ending theme, "-Mirage-."

The series will premiere on July 6th.
