During the airing of the Mushishi anime special, it was announced that a second season is in production and is scheduled to premiere in April. The title was also announced: Mushishi Zoku Shou (Mushishi: The Sequel Chapter).
According to the announcement, the staff will be the same as the first season. The story features omnipresent creatures called Mushi that frequently exhibit supernatural powers.
Mushi are beings in contact with the essence of life in its most basic and pure form. Due to their ephemeral nature, most humans are unable to perceive mushi and are unaware of their existence, but there are some who possess the ability to see and interact with such beings. One of these people is Ginko, the main character of the series.
