New anime for next year! Aniplex announced this Monday (25) that the novel series Shabake , written by Megumi Hatakenaka, will be adapted into an anime.
Shabake premieres in 2025. Therefore, the anime was directed by Takahiro Ōkawa at the animation studio BN Pictures.
Shabake Synopsis:
Set in the Edo period, the story follows Ichitarō, a gentle yet fragile young man protected by a mysterious spirit. Renowned voice actor Daiki Yamashita will voice the protagonist in the adaptation.
First published in 2001, the novel series has gone on to have several sequential volumes and has accumulated over 10 million copies in circulation.
However, Shabake has already inspired two live-action series, manga, plays, musicals, radio dramas, picture books, and even an online anime released in July 2021. However, the new TV adaptation will have an entirely new cast and crew compared to the previous version.
