Josh Trank (Power Without Limits) was attached to direct, but abandoned the project due to his commitments to Fantastic Four and Star Wars. The idea of adapting Shadow of the Colossus has existed since 2009, when Justin Marks signed a first draft of the script.
Kevin Misher signs the production of the film alongside Barbara Muschietti, André's sister and partner in Mama.
