The interview originally took place in Paris, but later reached Brazil via Crunchyroll . The creators are asked how the idea of bringing the real world into the game affected their creative process.

Katarina : Every character hides something, and that's a big challenge. The simplest of all is my character, Sunraku, because he plays for fun, that's all. For example, the heroine Rei Saiga is quite shy in real life, but she's very strong in video games, and she does this to get closer to Sunraku because she has feelings for him. And that's also the case with the people behind the company that develops Shanfro; they have some pretty complicated ideas in their manga. So I try to have different characters and do different things in both worlds.

Fuji : I separate real life [in the manga] from the Shanfro video game world. For example, in the video game, I try not to use too much black, and I don't fill in the boxes and drawings with black, saving it for the monsters. And in the daily life parts of the manga, I use black more often. It's my way of differentiating the two worlds.

Synopsis:

Rakurou Hizutome, a second-year high school student, is only interested in one thing: finding "crappy games" and beating them. His gaming skills are unmatched, and no game is too bad for him. So when he's introduced to the new VR game Shangri-La Frontier, he does what he does best: maxing out and skipping the prologue to jump straight into the action. But will even a skilled player like Rakurou be able to uncover all the game's secrets?
