Shenmue – Anime gets a trailer and release date

Crunchyroll has announced that "Shenmue the Animation," anime adaptation Shenmue game series will premiere on February 6th Crunchyroll 's own platform.

Synopsis

Shenmue the Animation follows the journey of Ryo Hazuki. After witnessing his father's murder at the family dojo, Ryo decides to dedicate his life to finding the culprit—and this determination will take him from the quiet streets of Yokosuka, Japan, to the sprawling metropolis of Hong Kong, and far beyond. In his quest for revenge, he will discover the powerful mystical forces at play and train to become the greatest martial artist of all time.

Chikara Sakurai is directing the anime at Telecom Animation Film studio. Sola Entertainment is credited with production management. Yu Suzuki, director of the Shenmue game series, is the executive producer of the project. Kensuke Ishikawa is the chief animation director, while Kento Shimoyama is responsible for writing the script, and finally, Kashitarou Itou will perform the opening theme song, called “Undead-Noid”.
