Former Japanese minister Shinzo Abe , 67, was shot dead while speaking in the city of Nara two days before a national election. According to information Shinzo Abe was unable to resist the severity of his injuries.
Therefore, a 41-year-old man who was behind caused the shooting. He was taken to the hospital, and at 5:03 pm (Japan local time), doctors declared his death.
A man named Tetsuya Yamagami , a resident of Nara, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. He was a former member of the Navy Self-Defense Force.
He stated:
I was dissatisfied with Abe and wanted to kill him, but it wasn't a grudge against his political beliefs.
Born into a political family, Shinzo Abe served as secretary to his father, former Foreign Minister Shintaro Abe , before being elected to the House of Representatives in 1993. He eventually served as prime minister between 2006 and 2007, before to take up the role again in 2012. He resigned due to health problems after nearly eight years.
