Shizuka Furuya returns to voice acting after paralyzing accident

Voice actress Furuya Shizuka has announced that she is returning to voice acting work, five years after announcing her retirement in 2015.

In an interview with the website Animate Times , she revealed that the reason she retired in 2015 was because she was hit by a truck in a traffic accident, with half of her body subsequently paralyzed.

Furuya added that she announced her retirement only on her Twitter account while she was a freelance voice actor and not working at a talent agency. However, her producer recently asked if she would be considering returning to voice acting, and she also received a job offer from her former agency, Production Ace .

She said that the producer was not aware of her retirement, and that her well-known voice actress from the Nichijou anime, Mariko Honda, was also unaware that she was retired. Furuya noted that she had closed her Twitter account after announcing her retirement. After retiring, Furuya worked several jobs, but used his time off from work to go on vacation in South Korea.

Furuya is known for voicing some characters in anime, such as the previously mentioned Nichijou , such as Nano Shinonome, Uruchi Minaya in Maken-Ki! and Matsuko Arita in Another .
