Slam Dunk is returning with a new animated film, according to creator Takehiko Inoue , who announced it on his Twitter .

Although author Inoue's announcement doesn't specify whether it's an anime or live-action film, the official website lists the anime studio Toei Animation and describes it as an anime film.

Finally, the manga was published in Shonen Jump between 1990 and 1996, totaling 31 volumes. The work inspired an anime in 1993 and received four sequels.
