Snoopy the movie will be produced in CGI by Fox

20th Century Fox Animation revealed during CinemaCon in Las Vegas that the Peanuts movie, a classic created by cartoonist Charles Schulz , will be produced in CGI, not 2D, as had been speculated. The film will be directed by Steve Martino (Ice Age 4), and written by Craig Schulz in partnership with Bryan Schulz (Charles' son and grandson, respectively) and Cornelius Uliano. The film will be a joint production between 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios (Ice Age, Rio). The studio acquired the adaptation rights in October of last year, but the animation style that would be used was still unknown. By betting on CGI, Fox may be making a risky decision, as the characters have thousands of fans around the world, and a lack of success could negatively impact the box office. Snoopy is scheduled to hit theaters on November 25, 2015, in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Peanuts comic strip, and the 50th anniversary of the first episode of the animated TV series (A Charlie Brown Christmas).
