A -1 Pictures , the renowned studio behind Solo Leveling and other popular anime , ended fiscal 2025 with an unexpected negative result. According to the financial report published in the Kanpō (Japan's Official Gazette) on June 30, the studio posted a net loss of 178 million yen , marking a turnaround from the 24 million yen profit the previous year.
Financial results and recent trajectory
Although the company's total assets amounted to approximately 2.7 billion yen , rising current liabilities and declining operating margins contributed to the imbalance in its accounts. According to the profit chart, the studio had been fluctuating since 2020, but 2025 was the worst result of the decade .
This loss, however, does not reflect a lack of activity. After all, A-1 Pictures was involved in major productions in the last fiscal year.
