Sony Pictures Entertainment and Japanese animation studio Marza Animation Planet have announced they are teaming up to turn Sonic into a movie star. They announced today a partnership to develop a feature film combining animation and live-action of the iconic SEGA video game character.
Evan Susser and Van Robichaux will write the film, which Neal H. Moritz, known for the Fast and Furious franchise, will produce.
The idea is to tell an irreverent story featuring other classic video game characters, such as the villain Dr. Robotnik. Susser and Robichaux have a background in stand-up comedy and are members of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles.
