Sony Pictures Entertainment and Japanese animation studio Marza Animation Planet announced they are teaming up to transform Sonic into a movie star. They announced today a partnership to develop a mixed-animation and live-action feature film featuring the iconic character from SEGA games.
Evan Susser and Van Robichaux will write the film, which Neal H. Moritz, known for the Fast and Furious franchise, will produce.
The idea is to tell an irreverent story featuring other classic game characters, such as the villain Dr. Robotnik. Susser and Robichaux have stand-up comedy backgrounds and are members of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles.
