Soredemo Ayumu – Manga ends in 5 chapters

Synopsis

When Ayumu Tanaka, the high school Kendo champion, enters his first year of high school, he takes an unexpected path. Instead of joining the Kendo club, he decides to sign up for the unofficial shogi club. However, his motivation is simple: he fell in love at first sight with Urushi Yaotome, the club's president and only member, and is willing to do anything to get closer to her. However, Ayumu makes a promise to himself that he will not reveal his feelings to Urushi until he manages to defeat her in a match of shogi.

Naturally, this self-imposed challenge proves to be a formidable task for Ayumu, as Urushi has extensive experience in the game and can anticipate all of her strategies. However, that doesn't stop him from complimenting her appearance, her shogi skill, and even her smile. Ayumu's direct approach and impassive face often make Urushi blush like beet red. As Ayumu learns more about the world of shogi and the enchanting player before him, he dedicates himself to making his confession with each exciting game they play together – even if it's one pawn at a time!

Yamamoto ( Teasing Master Takagi-san ) launched the series in Weekly Shounen Magazine in March 2019. The manga celebrates Weekly Shounen Magazine's 60th anniversary. Kodansha released the 15th compiled volume on July 14, and the 16th volume will be released on October 17. Kodansha released the 14th volume in English on September 26th and will publish the 15th volume on November 21st.

Finally, Soredemo Ayumu had an anime adaptation in 2022 by studio Silver Link , licensed by Sentai Filmworks .
