The 45th issue of this year's Weekly Shounen Magazine from Kodansha revealed on Wednesday (11) that Souichirou Yamamoto's manga Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru (When Will Ayumu Make His Move?) will end in five chapters.
Soredemo Ayumu – Manga ends in 5 chapters
Synopsis
When Ayumu Tanaka, the middle school Kendo champion, enters his first year of high school, he takes an unexpected path. Instead of joining the Kendo club, he decides to enroll in the unofficial shogi club. However, his motivation is simple: he fell in love at first sight with Urushi Yaotome, the club's president and only member, and is willing to do anything to get closer to her. However, Ayumu makes a promise to himself that he won't reveal his feelings to Urushi until he manages to defeat her in a shogi match.
Naturally, this self-imposed challenge proves a formidable task for Ayumu, as Urushi possesses vast experience in the game and can anticipate all his strategies. However, this doesn't stop him from complimenting her appearance, her shogi skills, and even her smile. Ayumu's direct approach and impassive face often make Urushi blush like a red beet. As Ayumu learns more about the world of shogi and the charming player before him, he dedicates himself to making his confession with each exciting game they play together – even if it's one pawn at a time!
Yamamoto (Teasing Master Takagi-san) launched the series in Weekly Shounen Magazine in March 2019. The manga commemorates the 60th anniversary of Weekly Shounen Magazine. Kodansha released the 15th compiled volume on July 14, and the 16th volume will be released on October 17. Kodansha released the 14th volume in English on September 26 and will publish the 15th volume on November 21.
Finally, Soredemo Ayumu received an anime adaptation in 2022 by studio Silver Link, licensed by Sentai Filmworks.
