Developer Shift Up has announced that it will release Stellar Blade for PC in 2025, following its launch as a PlayStation 5 (PS5) exclusive in April. The decision comes after solid sales performance on the console, with expectations that the title will achieve better results on the new platform. The South Korean studio also revealed details of its collaboration with the popular game Nier: Automata, which brings new features and items to the game.
On November 20, 2024, Shift Up will release a DLC (additional content pack) in partnership with Nier: Automata, developed by Square Enix. The special content includes outfits inspired by the character 2B and other items that will allow players a personalized experience rich in references to the Nier universe. The protagonist of Stellar Blade, Eve, will gain new clothing and accessory options, increasing the possibilities for visual customization in the game.
In addition to the costumes, Nier: Automata fans will find a special appearance by the character Emil, voiced by Maii Kadowaki, who will bring eleven exclusive items to "Emil's Shop," adding even more elements of interaction between the two worlds.

Sales expectations and performance of Stellar Blade on PC
In their most recent financial report, Shift Up expressed their expectation that Stellar Blade will outperform on PC. Therefore, with the growth of the Steam platform among AAA games (high-budget, high-production titles), the studio believes that the accessibility and popularity of PC gaming could expand their player base. They reference this prediction to the recent success of Black Myth: Wukong.
Nevertheless, Shift Up acknowledges that the game's sales trajectory for PS5, while stable, has shown signs of decline since launch. To maintain public interest, the developer is releasing regular content updates, which include patches (software updates) and other customization elements, in addition to the new photo mode.
Updates and the long-awaited photo mode
The latest Stellar Blade update brought a highly anticipated feature: photo mode. This function allows players to capture in-game moments, with the option to apply filters and adjustments to personalize the images. Therefore, this feature, common in games that emphasize visual appeal, effectively engages players, increases sharing on social media, and boosts the title's visibility.
The update also included four new outfits and accessories for Eve, the game's protagonist, as well as lip-syncing in Brazilian Portuguese and other languages. These enhancements aim to personalize and enrich the player experience, while also demonstrating Shift Up's commitment to adapting the title for new markets.
The collaboration between Stellar Blade and Nier: Automata aims to cater to fans of both universes and also attract new players. The strategy of incorporating elements from recognized games enhances the value of the franchise. Thus, the expansion to PC reflects a bet on the growth of the multiplatform gaming market. Shift Up has stated its commitment to improving Stellar Blade to deliver an experience that meets players' expectations.
