The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars) has announced the nominees for the 96th edition of the prestigious film festival. The acclaimed film " Kimitachi wa Dou Ikiru ka (The Boy and the Crane)," directed by Hayao Miyazaki at the renowned Studio Ghibli , has earned a nomination in the prestigious Best Animated Feature category. Expectations are high, as this could become Miyazaki's second film to receive the coveted award, following in the footsteps of "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Spirited Away)," which won Best Animated Feature in 2003.

But in Studio Ghibli's catalog, the nominations stand out at the 87th edition in 2015 with "Kaguya -hime no Monogatari (The Tale of the Princess Kaguya)", at the 88th in 2016 with "Omoide no Marnie (When Marnie Was There)", and at the 89th in 2017 with "The Red Turtle (La Tortue Rogue)" (a co-production with France and Belgium), all in the category of Best Animated Feature.
Synopsis:
The Boy and the Heron is inspired by the story of Genzaburo Yoshino 1937 novel. The book follows the journey of Copper, a 15-year-old boy who goes on a journey to discover the meaning of life. However, Miyazaki has stated that his film will tell a different story.
However, Hayao Miyazaki is one of Japan's most respected and influential animators, having co-founded Studio Ghibli . The film will also be released in North America on December 8, 2023, in IMAX.
Finally, the film “Kimitachi wa Dou Ikiru ka (The Boy and the Crane)” achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first Japanese film to receive the award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 81st Golden Globe Awards, announced earlier this month.
The Boy and the Crane opens in Brazil on February 22, with previews confirmed in São Paulo and Fortaleza. The 96th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 10 .
