The movie Super Mario Galaxy continues its strong run in theaters, already grossing $628 million worldwide. In the United States alone, the film reached $308 million after its second weekend, maintaining its lead in theaters and solidifying its commercial performance.

In its second weekend, the film grossed approximately US$69 million in the US, registering a 48% drop compared to its opening weekend. Even so, the result maintains a high level of success and positions the title as one of the biggest releases of the year.

Film performance and records

In addition to its success in the US, the film has achieved impressive numbers globally. In its first five days, it had already grossed US$372.5 million worldwide. This places the animation among the biggest recent premieres and reinforces the strength of the Nintendo franchise in cinemas.

Film production and cast

The film reunites important names from the previous team. Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto produced the film. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic return to direct, while Matthew Fogel wrote the screenplay.

The film features newcomers to the cast such as Brie Larson as Rosalina and Donald Glover as Yoshi. Additionally, familiar voices return, including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Jack Black, reinforcing the continuity of the presented universe.
