Bandai Namco has confirmed the release of Super Robot Wars V for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, with a release scheduled for 2017 in Japan.
This is the second special project celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise, which began its journey in 1991. Previously, the producer had already announced Super Robot Taisen OG: The Moon Dwellers as part of this nostalgic celebration.
Super Robot Wars V marks a new chapter in the classic franchise
Originally released on April 20, 1991, for the Game Boy, Super Robot Wars quickly gained fans by uniting iconic characters from various mecha anime in tactical battles. Since then, over 90 titles have been released—including special editions—and sold an impressive 16 million copies worldwide.
Furthermore, the game's arrival promises to update fans' experience by bringing new characters, new stories, and graphics optimized for the new generation of consoles.
Celebration reinforces the legacy of giant robots
While The Moon Dwellers represents the original core of the series, V will open the door to unprecedented collaborations between famous robot franchises. Therefore, players can expect reunions and epic clashes between their favorite mechs.
As the series has always mixed strategy, action and nostalgia, Super Robot Wars V will certainly be a highlight in 2017.
