Bandai Namco has confirmed the release of Super Robot Wars V for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, with a premiere scheduled for 2017 in Japan.
This is the second special project commemorating the 25th anniversary of the franchise, which began its journey in 1991. Previously, the production company had already announced Super Robot Taisen OG: The Moon Dwellers as part of this nostalgic celebration.
Super Robot Wars V marks a new chapter in the classic franchise
Originally released on April 20, 1991 for Game Boy, Super Robot Wars quickly gained fans by uniting iconic characters from various mecha anime in tactical battles. Since then, more than 90 titles have been released — including special editions — totaling an impressive 16 million copies sold worldwide.
Furthermore, the game's arrival promises to update the fan experience by bringing new characters, original stories, and graphics optimized for the new generation of consoles.
Celebration reinforces the legacy of giant robots
While The Moon Dwellers represents the original core of the series, V will open up space for unprecedented collaborations between famous robot franchises. Therefore, players can expect reunions and epic battles between their favorite mechs.
Since the series has always blended strategy, action, and nostalgia, Super Robot Wars V is sure to be a highlight of 2017.
