It was announced on stage at the Dengeki Bunko Festival 2015 that the light novel "Sword Art Online" by author Reki Kawahara will be getting a new film. Also at the event, a video was shown to recap the entire Sword Art Online series, with the announcement at the end.
Details about the project will be released on October 10th, when another edition of Dengeki takes place.
For now, all that is known is that Tomohiko Ito, who directed the second season, will direct, while Shingo Adachi will be in charge of character designs. A-1 Pictures is producing the series.
