Sword Art Online II: Phantom Bullet gained news about the new saga. According to a publication via Twitter, singer Eir Aoi will be responsible for the new opening theme of the series. Previously, Aoi performed the second opening theme of the first season ( Fairy Dance ) and that of the special Sword Art Online: Extra Edition ( Niji no Oto ).
The new season focuses on the Phantom Bullet arc, which is part of the 5th and 6th light novel created by author Reki Kawahara. The plot takes place one year after the end of the events that occurred in SAO. Kirito needs to investigate the case of a player who not only destroys characters in an online game, but also those who control them in real life.
Aniplex of America announced that the new season of the Sword Art Online anime will be broadcast worldwide shortly after its premiere on Japanese TV in July. The producer also confirmed that it will promote several previews of the series at events in the United States, France, Hong Kong, Germany, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
