The latest film Sword Art Online: Progressive ( Scherzo of a Deep Night ), the second part of the project based on the light novel spin-off Progressive, is currently showing in theaters in Japan, grossing over $4 million at the box office.
Synopsis:
The story of Progressive takes place in a time before Asuna and Kirito were known by their respective names "Lightning Flash" and "The Black Swordsman." When Asuna Yuuki uses the NerveGear (full immersion system) for the first time, she is a third-year elementary school student who had never even experienced an online game. Meanwhile, in the saga, the first Massively Multiplayer Virtual Reality Game (VRMMORPG), called Sword Art Online (SAO), officially launches on November 6, 2022. Its players, still excited upon entering the game, only realize they are trapped when the Game Master prevents them from finding a way out. The Game Master also issues a warning: "This game is not to be played with." In other words: if a player loses their life in the game, they die in real life as well.
