The latest film, Sword Art Online: Progressive ( Scherzo of a Deep Night ), the second installment in the project based on the spin-off light novel Progressive, is currently showing in Japanese cinemas, grossing over 4 million dollars at the box office.

Synopsis:
The story of Progressive takes place before Asuna and Kirito were known by their respective names, "Lightning Flash" and "The Black Swordsman." When Asuna Yuuki uses the NerveGear (full immersion system) for the first time, she is a third-grade elementary school student who had never even had contact with an online game. However, in the saga, the first Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG), called Sword Art Online (SAO), is officially released on November 6, 2022. Its players, still euphoric upon entering the game, only realize they are trapped when the Game Master prevents them from finding a way out. The Game Master also issues a warning: "You must not play this game." In other words: if a player loses a life in the game, they also die in real life.
