41 years ago, the King of Planet Vegeta had a baby boy, who in the not-too-distant future would become famous as the Saiyan Prince Vegeta. The king was very proud of his latent ability as a powerful warrior. At the same time, his loyal companion Paragus also had a baby boy named Broly. This baby had even greater potential than Prince Vegeta, so the jealous king sent him to a dark, distant planet in a space capsule.
The furious Paragus betrayed King Vegeta and set out to find his beloved son, whom he found on a stormy planet. Paragus lost his only way home when his spaceship crashed on the planet, and he and Broly were left alone for decades without hope. Currently on Earth, six Dragon Balls are stolen from Bulma's laboratory by the resurrected Frieza, who wants to make his ambitions come true.
Meanwhile, a patrol from Frieza's army finds Paragus and Broly at the edge of the galaxy and brings them before Frieza, who creates a powerful new battalion. Surprised by the highly trained Broly's battle prowess, Frieza "shakes Paragus' bloody shirt" and heads to an arctic location on Earth where a Dragon Ball has been detected.
Both Goku and Vegeta attempt to retrieve the Dragon Balls as quickly as possible and face their new and permanent rivals, Freeza, and the formidable Broly. The deadly battle has barely begun, but against Broly's overwhelming power, which gradually evolves throughout the battle, Goku and Vegeta are forced to fight on the defensive.
