T1 secured their spot in the finals of Worlds 2024, the League of Legends World Championship, by defeating Gen.G 3-1 in the semifinals. With the victory, the South Korean team reached the final for the third consecutive time, an unprecedented feat in the competitive scene. Now, T1 will face Bilibili Gaming (BLG) in the grand final, scheduled for November 2nd.

The match against Gen.G was marked by decisive moments from key players like Gumayusi and Keria, who excelled in several matches. The team's performance reaffirmed T1's dominance on the international stage, especially in series against Chinese teams from the LPL (China's LoL Pro League).

T1's standout performance in the 2024 Worlds semifinals

In the first game of the series, the duo of Gumayusi and Keria was decisive. Using champion Ashe and Renata, they capitalized on an early mistake by Gen.G, resulting in a landslide victory. However, Gen.G responded in the second match, punishing T1 with a more refined and secure strategy, controlling the match for 27 minutes, tying the score.

However, the third match saw the return of champion Vi, controlled by Oner, and Ashe, controlled by Gumayusi. The result was a stunning performance, with Oner recording 5 kills, 1 death, and 11 assists, and Gumayusi adding 7 kills. Faker, the team's veteran, also had an epic moment, eliminating his opponent Chovy at base, securing a crucial victory for T1.

Faker's performance and star-studded cast

Faker, a living League of Legends legend, continues to be one of T1's standout performers. With 7 kills and no deaths in game three, he reaffirmed his prominence on the team. Support Keria also impressed by dominating the fourth and final game with champion Pyke, finishing the game with no deaths and impeccable strategic performance.

Furthermore, the team also benefits from the stability of its lineup, which has remained unchanged for the past three years. Zeus, Oner, Faker, Gumayusi, and Keria have proven to be one of the most consistent quintets in LoL history.

T1 seeks fifth title at Worlds 2024

The final against BLG promises to be historic. T1, the most successful team at Worlds, has already won the title four times and has the chance to become the tournament's first five-time champion. Furthermore, the rivalry between the LCK (South Korea) and LPL regions is intense, and the 2024 clash could define a new dominance in the competitive scene.

T1 has never lost a best-of-five series to Chinese teams at World Championships. They've gone nine unbeaten series since 2013, giving the team a significant psychological advantage. On the other hand, BLG has Bin, who has defeated T1 in other competitions, including MSI 2024, when he eliminated the Korean team in a tight 3-2 victory.

History favors T1 in the clash against the LPL

Gumayusi, T1's current AD carry, has already sent a direct message to BLG and top laner Bin. Recalling his 2023 remarks, he stated that T1 "doesn't lose to LPL teams." To this day, this statement remains true in the context of Worlds, but Bin has a chance to change that narrative. The Chinese player's record against T1 is positive outside of Worlds, and he's preparing to seek his region's first victory in three years.
